Advanced Provider Unit

The Advanced Provider Unit (APU) is a forward-thinking initiative that supports the Santa Monica Fire Department’s mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered emergency medical care. This specialized team—made up of a firefighter/paramedic and a nurse practitioner—responds to complex medical calls, providing advanced assessment, treatment, and care coordination directly at the scene. In addition to emergency response, the APU conducts follow-up visits for high-risk patients, helping to manage chronic conditions, connect individuals to ongoing care, and prevent repeat 9-1-1 calls. By bringing advanced care into the community, the APU reduces unnecessary hospital visits, improves patient outcomes, and supports a more sustainable and responsive EMS system for Santa Monica.

Nurse Practitioner Opportunities
