From swinging in the playground to swinging a hammer, last summer’s group of Rosie’s Girls enjoyed introductions to trade activities such as welding, carpentry and painting.

This City of Santa Monica program, named after the famous icon Rosie the Riveter, is offered annually to middle school girls. Rosie's Girls builds self-esteem, leadership, and physical confidence through exploration of the trades and other non-traditional activities. Santa Monica's unique program combines creative expression and physical challenges with civic engagement. Participants also go behind the scenes in various parts of the City to see what it takes to make Santa Monica run.

For more information about the program and to find out how to register: visit www.smgov.net/rosie or 310.458.8540.
