How the LIFE Program Can Help You Pay for Your Big Blue Bus Pass

Beginning January 2018, the former Rider Relief Transportation Program will become The Low Income Fare is Easy (LIFE). LIFE provides monthly fare subsidy coupons to eligible riders that make purchasing Big Blue Bus passes more affordable. Regular riders, K-12 students, college students, and older adult (ages 62+) may be eligible to receive the monthly discount. Some customers may even be able to purchase a Big Blue Bus 30-day pass for almost half price!

Here are the changes coming and in some cases discounts are more than doubling:

Where and How to Apply

Locate and call a participating agency within the Big Blue Bus service area. Be sure to ask about the following:

  • Program distribution days and hours
  • If an appointment is necessary
  • If your specific pass type coupon (Regular, Senior/Disabled/Medicare, K-12 Student or College Student) is available
  • Any additional requirements (each agency is different)

Once your appointment is scheduled, remember to take proof of identity and income (i.e. pay stub, public benefit card, tax return, medical card, proof of free/reduced lunch services, or proof of lifeline). Approval only takes a matter of minutes, and you will be provided coupons immediately.

Buy Big Blue Bus passes with your discount at one of these vendor locations.
