Introducing Big Blue Bus’s New Route 45

Hello, summer!
From the train to pier to shopping, you haven’t experienced Santa Monica until you try Big Blue Bus’ new Route 45.
What is Route 45?
Route 45 is a summer-only pilot service that will provide easy connections from the Downtown Santa Monica Expo Line Station to major destinations, including the iconic Santa Monica Pier and Beach, the world-renowned Third Street Promenade, and many hotels, restaurants and shops.
Route 45 will be a convenient, eco-friendly, clean, and cool (especially on hot summer days) way to get around Downtown Santa Monica this summer. Bonus: By riding Route 45, you don’t have to worry about finding or paying for parking!
When can I ride Route 45?
Service begins on Monday, July 1, 2019 and will operate every day through Monday, September 2, 2019 (Labor Day).
Weekdays:
- 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., every 15 minutes
Weekends:
- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., every 15 minutes
- 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., every 12 minutes
- 7 p.m. – 8 p.m., every 15 minutes

Paying your fare
When you pay with TAP Stored Value, your Route 45 single-ride fare is only $1.10, and if you’re transferring to/from Metro Bus or Rail (within 2.5 hours), your is only $0.50. If you’re paying with cash, a single-ride fare is $1.25.
Or, pay your fare using your smartphone in just seconds! Download the “Token Transit” app (available on Android and iPhone), select a Big Blue Bus fare type, and when you’re ready to ride, activate your pass. As you board the bus, show the Big Blue Bus Operator your digital ticket. You’re good to go!
