July is Parks and Recreation Month!

As the State and County reopen, the City is working hard to provide safe opportunities for play as well as re-envision future uses of public facilities. Here are some highlights of what to expect as services have changed in addition to ways to enjoy Santa Monica’s parks and recreation facilities this summer. 

  

Tennis/Pickleball Courts at Memorial Park 

The Memorial Park tennis/pickleball courts have expanded hours for summer from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday – Friday. Unless permitted or utilized for City programs, the tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis and all players must adhere to the 35-minute time limit for play when others are waiting. Swim Center Lap Swim 

The Santa Monica Swim Center will open additional days on Sundays and Mondays. This expansion will begin 7-day-a-week offerings starting July 11, 2021, for lap swim, recreational swim, swim lessons, and water fitness. Face coverings are required when inside the restrooms and changing rooms.   

 

Splash Pads 

The splash pads at Virginia Avenue Park and Annenberg Community Beach House opened on June 15, 2021. The Tongva Park splash pad is undergoing repair and we look forward to its future reopening. Visit santamonica.gov/coronavirus-reopenings for the latest. 

  

Memorial Park Fitness Room 

  The Memorial Park Gymnasium and Fitness Room are re-opening on Monday, June 28th with reduced hours. Face coverings are required at all times while inside City facilities, including the gymnasium and fitness center.  For more information, visit www.smgov.net/dropinsports. 

 

Group BBQ Area Reservations 

Group BBQ areas will be available for reservation at Airport, Clover, Marine, and Virginia Avenue Parks starting Monday, July 5, 2021. For more information, including how to make a reservation, please visit www.smgov.net/bbq.  

 

Community Camps and Classes (Indoor) 

Beginning July 6, 2021, Community Camps and Classes are expanding from outdoor-only activities to include indoor activities at park meeting rooms throughout the City. Face masks are required while inside City facilities except while eating or drinking. Annenberg Community Beach House Pool 

The Annenberg Community Beach House Pool will reopen on July 1, 2021, with new hours! Pool passes will be sold daily in-person on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit www.annenbergbeachhouse.com for more info.
