Santa Monica Swim Center announces annual maintenance closure

The Santa Monica Swim Center will undergo its annual Preventative Maintenance Closure from Monday, Dec. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.
This year, we are planning extensive repairs on the Fitness Pool Deck, including replacement of the pool grates and concrete reinforcement. While we anticipate being able to reopen by Jan. 4, it’s possible that unforeseen issues may arise once repairs are underway. In the event that additional work is required, the closure period may be extended.

What to expect during the closure
Each winter, the Swim Center undergoes a series of important maintenance projects to ensure safety, efficiency, and long-term facility performance. This year’s projects include:
- Fitness Pool Deck Repairs – replacement of perimeter pool grates, concrete reinforcement, hydro-jetting of deck drains, and resealing of expansion joints.
- Chemical Room and Pump Room Maintenance – cleaning of chlorine and acid vats, resealing of the chlorine vat floor, and exercising and repair of all valves.
- Locker Room and Shower Area Upgrades – fixture updates, new shower hooks, lighting and outlet replacements, and floor surface assessments.
- Boiler and HVAC Servicing – annual tune-ups and part replacements to maintain energy efficiency and stable water temperatures.
- Exterior and Facility Upkeep – rain gutter cleaning, inspection of front office plexiglass, and deep custodial cleaning throughout the facility.
Expanded lap swim hours at Santa Monica High School (SaMoHi) pool
During the Swim Center closure, lap swimming will be available at the SaMoHi Pool from Saturday, Dec. 20, through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.

Olympic Blvd is one-way in this area. Drivers must enter from 4th Street. Access the parking lot by traveling eastbound on Olympic from 4th Street. Parking Details Complimentary parking is available adjacent to the pool and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Note: This lot may fill when other campus events are occurring; plan extra time for parking. Additional parking is available at the Civic Center Parking Structure, located at Olympic and 4th Street.
