Happy Holidays from the Santa Monica Farmers Markets!

Did you see the scrumptious recipe in the latest issue of Seascape for Persimmon Chutney? Check out the full recipe below. Persimmons are just one of the many delicious fall and winter fruits you will find at the Santa Monica Farmers Markets. We also have a host of fun seasonal activities and great gift options to explore at all four weekly markets!

Join us at one of our weekend Farmers Markets and discover something new! Not sure what’s in season right now?  Ask at the market information booth or follow us @SMFMS on social media for seasonal updates.

On Saturday, we host two markets: one in Downtown Santa Monica on Arizona Avenue between 2nd and 4th streets and another in Virginia Avenue Park on Pico at Cloverfield.  The Saturday Downtown market, which is slightly smaller than our Wednesday market, boasts 55 California farmers selling some of the best quality produce, flowers, nuts, cheeses and meats around.

The Saturday Pico market adds a community component with a different band each week, a few local restaurants, a bakery and a coffee cart. This weekend the Master Gardeners will also be on-site to answer all your home gardening questions. Located in front of the Pico Library in the park, you can make a whole day of it enjoying produce, food, books and the playground or basketball courts.

If a lazy Sunday is more your pace, join us at our market on Main Street at Ocean Park Blvd., in Heritage Square. The Sunday market also has beautiful California grown farm-fresh produce and a weekly band with the addition of more breakfast and food options, children’s activities and the cutest section of local Santa Monica crafters with jewelry, adult and baby clothes, body products and ceramics. Children’s activities this weekend include: Paths & Pages who will host an art and crafts booth and local inventor, Steve Craig, who will bring his spin art machine, draw bots, fountain and the GIANT crane.

Insider Tip:  90 minutes of free parking is available in City lots downtown.  There is always free parking in Virginia Avenue Park and free parking is available on Sundays for market customers at 2600 Barnard Way with validation and proof of purchase.  Be sure to tell the beach parking attendant that you are a market customer to get the extra validation ticket.  We can’t wait to see you at all our markets and share the incredible bounty of California produce.
