Employment Preparation, Job Search, and Job Retention

Chrysalis

An evolving job-readiness program with individualized case management. Provide access to an array of supportive services, including transitional employment opportunities. Chrysalis helps clients overcome barriers to reconnecting to the workforce.

JVS WorkSource

Employment and training services funded under the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant.  Attend Orientation Tuesday and Thursday 10am.

Santa Monica College (SMC) Noncredit Initiatives

SMC offers free classes with no prerequisites on a variety of subjects including English as a Second Language (ESL), Computer Basics, Introduction to Early Care and Child Education, Rehabilitation Therapy Aide, Working with Older Adults, Customer Service, Sustainability Assistant, Business Essentials, Level 1, Sustainability Services Technician, Sustainability in Organics Aide.  Jumpstart your career and develop new skills. Hospitality Training Academy (HTA)

The Hospitality Training Academy (HTA), provides training for low-income and underserved populations to obtain employment in the hospitality and food service industry and to move up the career ladder to the middle class. HTA trainings, which include customer service, Vocational ESL classes, skills upgrades and vocational training, as well as resume assistance, and mock interviewing, offer participants the tools they will need to succeed and to pipeline into a union, hospitality job with good wages and benefits.

JVS Works Programs offers an array of retraining programs including:

  • Health Works – Certified Nursing Assistant training
  • Apartment Works – training in property maintenance
  • Bank Works – training in entry level Banking Career and

Santa Monica Public Library, with the support of the California State Library, offers scholarships to Career Online High School. Students earn an accredited high school diploma plus a career certificate in one of the following fields: Certified Protection Officer; Child Care and Education; Commercial Driving; Food and Hospitality; General Career Preparation; Home Care Professional; Homeland Security; Hospitality and Leisure; Office Management; or Retail Customer Service.
