I am dedicated to upholding Santa Monica Community College District’s tradition of excellence – its outstanding teachers, valuable community programs, and its mission of student success.

As a Santa Monica Community College District Trustee, I have provided successful leadership by:

 • Advocating for equitable community college State funding including for Emeritus College
 • Continuing high-quality education and workforce development
 • Recruiting and retaining excellent faculty
 • Providing strong fiscal management
 • Promoting programs responsive to the local community and environment
 • Encouraging effective community collaboration especially with our local Santa Monica and Malibu schools 

I have a lifelong commitment to education, community service, and human rights. I recently retired from UCLA where I managed campus community-oriented safety programs. I received the prestigious national Jeanne Clery award for my work and was named a California Assembly 2010 Woman of the Year. 

My extensive community experience includes serving on the boards of the Malibu/SMC Joint Powers Authority, Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center Board of Advisors, Broad Stage, Social Justice Learning Institute, Students4Students, and as the City of Santa Monica Representative to the West Los Angeles Vector Control District. 

I will maintain Santa Monica Community College District’s commitment to education while strengthening partnerships with neighbors and serving our community

I am endorsed by Congressman Ted Lieu, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Senator Ben Allen, Assemblymember Richard Bloom and councilmembers from Santa Monica and Malibu

Me dedico a defender la tradición de excelencia del Distrito universitario de la comunidad de Santa Mónica - sus excelentes profesores, programas valiosos para la comunidad y su misión de éxito estudiantil. 

Como representante del Distrito universitario de la comunidad de Santa Mónica, he brindado un liderazgo exitoso al:

 • Defender el financiamiento estatal universitario equitativo para la comunidad para Emeritus College
 • Continuar la educación de alta calidad y elfuerza laboral
 • Reclutar y conservar excelentes docents
 • Proporcionar una fuerte administración fiscal
 • Promocionar programas que responden a la comunidad local y medioambiente
 • Alentar la colaboración comunitaria eficaz especialmente con nuestras escuelas locales de Santa Mónica y Malibú 

Tengo un compromiso de por vida con la educación, el servicio a la comunidad y los derechos humanos. Recientemente me jubilé de UCLA donde administré los programas de seguridad orientados a la comunidad de la universidad. Recibí el premio prestigioso nacional Jeanne Clery por mi labor y fui nombrada Mujer del año 2010 por la Asamblea de California. 

Mi extensa experiencia en la comunidad incluye prestar servicio en las juntas de Malibu/SMC Joint Powers Authority, la Junta de asesores del Centro Médico de Santa Mónica/UCLA, Broad Stage, el Social Justice Learning Institute, Students4Students y como Representante de la Ciudad de Santa Mónica al West Los Angeles Vector Control District. 

Mantendré el compromiso con la educación del Distrito universitario de la comunidad de Santa Mónica mientras fortalezco las asociaciones con los vecinos y presto servicio a nuestra comunidad
