A refugee from the former Soviet Union, Natalya Zernitskaya understands first-hand the vital role that government plays in helping families achieve a better life.
Natalya is a Pico neighborhood renter and community leader whose twelve years of service in our city have helped Santa Monicans feel safer and access better opportunities. Her unique lived and professional experiences have exceptionally prepared her to shape effective policies, resolve neighborhood issues, and make our city more fiscally responsible and transparent.
Natalya was previously appointed to the City Council’s 2019 Audit Subcommittee, serves on the City of Santa Monica’s Transient Occupancy Tax Advisory Committee, and works as a Financial Analyst – understanding how to make our tax dollars work for us.
Natalya served as President of the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica, serves on the Virginia Avenue Park Advisory Board and Climate Action Santa Monica Advisory Board, and is a Board Member of the Human Relations Council of the Santa Monica Bay Area – creating a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable city.
Nobody is better prepared than Natalya to find real solutions to the challenges facing our city – so every family can thrive. Her priorities include implementing proven homelessness reduction programs, protecting renters, investing in our first responders, and fast-tracking our economic recovery plan.

Natalya es inquilina en el vecindario de Pico y líder comunitaria, cuyo servicio de doce años en nuestra ciudadha ayudado a los residentes de Santa Mónica a sentirse más seguros y acceder a mejores oportunidades. Susexperiencias vividas y profesionales la han preparado excepcionalmente para formular políticas efectivas,resolver problemas vecinales y hacer que nuestra ciudad sea más fiscalmente responsable y transparente.
Natalya fue designada previamente al Subcomité de Auditoría del Concejo Municipal en 2019, forma parte delComité Asesor sobre el Impuesto de Ocupación Transitoria de la Ciudad de Santa Mónica y trabaja comoAnalista Financiera – entendiendo cómo hacer que nuestros impuestos trabajen a nuestro favor.
Natalya ha sido Presidenta de la Liga de Mujeres Electoras de Santa Mónica, forma parte de la Junta Asesora delParque Virginia Avenue y del Comité Asesor de Acción Climática de Santa Mónica, y es Miembro de la Juntadel Concejo de Relaciones Humanas del Área de Santa Mónica Bay – creando una ciudad más equitativa,inclusiva y sostenible.
