QuickLook Legal Research Class and Office Hours

An LA Law Library legal research specialist teaches monthly QuickLook classes, 45-minute overviews of legal information search tools and techniques. The QuickLook class takes place in the Community Room from 1:30 to 2:15 pm, followed by drop-in office hours in Study Room 6 on the 2nd floor, from 2:15 to 5:00 pm.
July QuickLook Topic: Estate Probate & Trusts - Many people can't afford a lawyer to handle their legal issues. When someone dies, the probate process for relatives can be intimidating and difficult, especially when disputes arise. In this class, learn the basics of probate court and the administration of estates and trusts, including how to challenge improper use or waste of estate property, and where to go for further information and assistance. Learning important legal fundamentals about probate can make your legal journey easier and more successful. Class covers how probate court works, and how estates are administered in probate; appointment of administrators, and how to challenge an appointment; what to do about improper use or transfer of estate property; basics of trusts and when probate court can get involved in trust administration; will challenges and how to respond to possible financial elder abuse; resources for further information and where to seek help.
