LA Law Library QuickLook Legal Research Class & Office Hours

LA Law Library legal research specialists teach free, monthly 45-minute overviews of legal information search tools and techniques as part of their regular “office hours” visits.*

After the class, an LA Law Library legal research specialist will be available in Study Room 7, from 2:30 to 5:00pm, to assist in finding information and resources on any legal topic.

JULY 2020 CLASS TOPIC: TYPES & SOURCES OF LAW
This class introduces legal researchers to cases, statutes, and regulations, and the roles they play in your research. Learn fundamental legal research concepts by focusing on the elements and features of legal research materials, and how to find them.

Class covers:

• The three branches of government, and the law made by each
• Introduction to primary and secondary authority
• Characteristics of legal research materials
• Legal research tips
