
Ah, Santa Monica: A Poetry Reading by Majid Naficy
Join us for a poetry reading by 2025 City of Santa Monica Artist Fellow Majid Naficy. A celebrated Iranian American poet and author of more than 25 books in English and Persian, Naficy will read selections from his poetry at this free event. In addition to holding a doctorate in Near Eastern languages and cultures from UCLA, Naficy is a dedicated human rights and disability advocate, focusing on issues in both Iran and the United States. He has written about disability in literature, including on the albino hero “Zal” in Ferdowsi's The Shah-Nameh and Jose Saramago's Blindness. Reception to follow.
