Doors Open California
Step into California history with a visit to the Marion Davies Guest House, one of the historic sites participating in Doors Open California, a statewide celebration of architecture, history, and cultural landmarks.
Enjoy free docent-led tours of the Marion Davies Guest House and discover the history of the former beachfront estate of actress Marion Davies and media magnate William Randolph Hearst. Designed by trailblazing architect Julia Morgan, the site offers a unique glimpse into Old Hollywood and the history of California’s coast.
This year, visitors will also have the opportunity to see historic Beach House artifacts on exhibit for the first time, including an original wood floor detail, historic wallpaper, ephemera, and a personal item belonging to Marion Davies: her handkerchief.
No reservations required. Just stop by between 12PM and 4PM on Saturday, September 26 or Sunday, September 27 to explore the Guest House and experience this historic landmark up close.
Want to explore more? Pair your visit with a stop at the Santa Monica Conservancy’s historic Shotgun House, just over two miles away.
