This year’s Oscar winner for Best International Film tells the true story of Eunice Paiva, a mother trying to find justice for her family after her husband is abducted during the 1970s military dictatorship in Brazil. Run time: 135 minutes.

In Portuguese, with English subtitles. Following the film, UCLA Professor Bryan Pitts, an expert on Brazilian politics and author of the book, Until the Storm Passes: Politicians, Democracy, and the Demise of Brazil’s Military Dictatorship, discusses the film and what you didn’t see on the screen.
