Housing and Human Services Commission
Mission Statement: To be determined.
Powers and Duties: The Commission shall act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the production and preservation of affordable housing and to the social, economic, and wellness needs of vulnerable community members, including, but not limited to, marginalized populations, low-income households, older adults, youth and families, the LGBTQ community, women and girls (including transgender women and girls), people of color, and people experiencing homelessness. The Commission shall encourage the full participation of the Santa Monica community in shaping the City's future and shall demonstrate a commitment to fairness, equity, social justice, and democracy.
The Housing and Human Services Commission was created in May 2026 with passage of Ordinance 2858, with seven commissioners appointed by City Council in July 2026.
