Inform, engage, and educate to better facilitate the sharing of knowledge within the Santa Monica Community.

Establish a data sharing and collaboration platform to support the use of data by the Santa Monica Community to promote trust in government.

Santa Monica maintains two open data portals. The City’s open data portal, https://data.smgov.net, is home to numerous datasets that provide topical and up to date information about Santa Monica. Datasets housed include closed Santa Monica Works (i.e. 311)  requests, Police calls for service, and employee salaries. The City’s geospatial portal, https://santamonica.gov/geohub, houses data containing geographic coordinates, many of the City’s routes, boundaries, and assets are housed within the geospatial portal.

The US City Open Data Census provides standards by which the country's open data programs are rated. A consistent high national rating indicates that Santa Monica's adherence to emerging open data trends and standards.
