Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) 2025 Updated FHSZ Maps
On March 24, 2025, The Office of the State Fire Marshal issued the 2025 Recommended Local Responsibility Area (LRA) FHSZ maps for the City of Santa Monica.
LRA 2025 FHSZ Map Changes
Under State Law, Government Code Section 51179 (b)(3), a local agency (SMFD) SHALL NOT decrease the level of the LRA FHSZ recommended by the OSFM.
A local agency (SMFD) can make additions to or increase the level of the LRA FHSZ recommended by the OSFM. SMFD is not proposing any additions or increases in the LRA FHSZ during this adoption process.
2025 LRA FHSZ Maps Adoption Hearing
The SMFD is required by state law to adopt by ordinance, the OSFM recommended LRA FHSZ maps within 120 days of release by the OSFM. The council meetings specific to the adoption of this ordinance will be posted here when the dates are confirmed.

Comment Period: There is no formal comment period required by State Law. Comments and questions can be submitted via the city council meetings during public comment.
