Main Library presents Nosferatu with Live Score by the Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble

Santa Monica, California – Santa Monica Public Library presents a screening of Nosferatu with live score by the Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.
The Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble returns to Santa Monica Public Library for another Halloween horror screening with live musical score. Nosferatu, one of the silent era’s most influential masterpieces, set the template for the horror films that followed. The 1922 German Expressionist film, directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok, is an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s vampire classic, Dracula.
The screening will feature an original musical score performed live by the Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble, an internationally recognized new music group that combines acoustic instruments, electronic hardware, composed material, and structured improvisation. The Ensemble is comprised of founder/composer/conductor Jack Curtis Dubowsky, Jeff Schwartz on double bass, Charles Sharp on clarinet and bass clarinet, Laura Osborn on flutes, Henry Webster on violin and viola, R. Scott Dibble on keyboards, and Gabriel “Slam” Nobles on mallets and percussion.
This program is free and open to all ages. Seating is limited and on a first-arrival basis. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible.
