The City of Santa Monica, in partnership with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, will participate in the nationwide National Day of Civic Hacking on June 6, 2015 by hosting a meetup at the Santa Monica Public Library. During the event, City staff will formally provide access to several new open datasets and be available to engage the public in all matters pertaining to the City’s open data program and learn more about the Library’s Innovation Technology Task Force, which is helping to envision the future of the Library.

The meetup will take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will allow members of the public to learn more about the newly released datasets, as well as engage with City staff to learn more about existing datasets available to the public.

Bringing Civic Hacking Home

The City of Santa Monica and Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship. Both agencies view open data as a core public service for citizen engagement and government transparency, as well as a potential business driver for local businesses. The City and Chamber are pleased to offer local residents and businesses an opportunity to come together to learn more, as well as contribute to Santa Monica’s efforts to increase economic vitality, transparency, and  citizen engagement.  Both agencies are committed to continuing their work together to establish Santa Monica as a model city for private/public technical partnerships.
