City's Resource Recovery & Recycling Division Hosts the Annual Citywide Yard Sale

When: Saturday, September 24, 2016; 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where: Right outside your front door - CITYWIDE

Putting cash in your pocket while helping the environment has never been so easy.  Join the City in celebrating REUSE by participating in the City’s Annual Citywide Yard Sale.  Whether you buy, sell or donate, reusing materials is one of the easiest ways to reduce materials from being landfilled. 

Whether you are trying to clear out your garage or searching for secondhand treasures, this event is for you.  Residents and local organizations are encouraged to sign up and enjoy the benefits of a catalog listing their featured items and a resource list of charitable organizations accepting donations.  Here’s how to get started:

Sign Up to Sell:

  1. Register online at smgov.net/r3events or call 310-458-2223 by September 9th!
  2. E-mail images of your star items torecycling@smgov.net. We’ll post items to RRR’s Social Media pages.
  3. We’ll send a fact sheet with tips and frequently asked questions.
  4. Your address and sale merchandise will be included in full-page ad and online at smgov.net/r3events during the week of the event.
  5. After the event, survey what is leftover and determine what can be donated to local organizations using the Reuse Resource List available online. The City will be providing a bulky item pick-up for any unwanted items from the Yard Sale on Sunday, September 25thIf you would like to partake in the pick-up, click the bulky-item box in the registration form. 

Yard Sale Shoppers: 

  1. A full-page ad with sale locations and merchandise will be available in the Santa Monica Daily Press during the week of September 19th.
  2. Map of participating sale locations will also be available on smgov.net/r3events.
  3. Visit the City on September 24th and find your treasure!
