Santa Monica’s Shared Mobility Pilot Program Launches September 17

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – On Monday, September 17, the City of Santa Monica, its existing shared mobility system Breeze Bike Share, and four selected vendors for its Shared Mobility Pilot Program will host a press conference to kick off the program on launch day. The pilot program helps expand Santa Monica’s commitment to being a sustainable, multi-modal city.

WHERE: Colorado and 4th Street, just north of the Expo Line Terminus on the Colorado Esplanade.

WHAT: The City of Santa Monica looks forward to launching its Shared Mobility Pilot Program in partnership with four operators of e-bikes and e-scooters: Bird, JUMP, Lime and Lyft. This pilot program builds upon the City’s existing Breeze Bike Share system, and expands Santa Monica’s commitment to be a truly multi-modal community that offers residents and visitors a variety of sustainable and convenient transportation options. The press briefing will include remarks from Council and City leadership as well as from the four operators. Media and public attendees will learn about some of the new technology that will be incorporated into the pilot, new plans for docking, safety education as well as the essential elements of the pilot and what the Santa Monica community can anticipate. The event will end with operator helmet giveaways and tips on safe riding.

MEDIA PARKING: Media can park in Lot 29 just south of the Downtown Santa Monica Expo Station accessible from 5th Street, between Colorado and the 4th/5th Street off ramp of the I-10.
