Fireside Eclectic Performances Bring Warmth to the Historic Miles Memorial Playhouse

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Now in its 10th year, the annual Fireside at the Miles has become a wintery Santa Monica tradition. This year’s season kicks off Friday, Jan. 11 and patrons are invited to come enjoy a variety of performing artists from classical and world music, dance and jazz, to theater and storytelling. This unique experience transforms the Spanish Revival-Style playhouse into a large living room. Risers and seating will be oriented around the fireplace while couches, candles, intimate lighting and a coffee and tea bar add to the seasonal ambiance.
January performances feature Taiko fusion group On Ensemble, the acoustic stylings of Petty Chavez, the Los Angeles Flute Orchestra, an all vocal A Capella Night, Orchestra Santa Monica Woodwind Quintet, and true stories told in SHINE, an evening of storytelling.
February performances will feature ‘Jazz Fridays’ with a line-up of the Gregory Poree Band, Natalie Jacob, Nick Mancini’s new nine-piece combo and Southern California favorite jazz singer Angie Wells. Saturdays will feature the eclectic musical stylings of Julie Pusch & Friends, local choreographer Suchi Branfman & guests, dancer/choreographer Angela Todaro curates an evening of contemporary dance and Amy Raasch wraps up the series with her hyper creative one woman show “Animal Monologues”.
Performances are scheduled on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. between January 11, 2019 and February 23, 2019.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for youth age 18 and under, adults age 55 and over and students of any age. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the shows will run from 8 to 10 p.m. For a complete line-up and tickets, please visit the FIRESIDE web page.
