Take the Plunge at Santa Monica’s Second Annual Polar Bear Swim on December 29

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — At the second annual Polar Bear Swim, make it a quick dip or take a deeper dive into the Pacific Ocean for the 300-yard buoy swim. Once you have taken the plunge, warm up in the heated Annenberg Community Beach House pool.

Creativity and costumes are encouraged! Our hope is your friends and family make this one of your New Year traditions while enjoying poolside activities and celebrating with s'mores, warm beverages, games and photos with Pat, Santa Monica’s very own polar bear mascot. Registration includes pool admission for those Polar Bears that want to soak or swim in the warm pool, take a hot shower and munch on the tasty snacks provided. All ages are encouraged to attend.

Pool Admission: $10/adults, $5/senior adults 60+, $4/youth 1-17. Regular pool rules apply while swimming at this event. Youth younger than eight years old must be accompanied by an adult while in the pool. In-person registration will be available, but may be limited on the day of event.

WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 29, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Polar bear swim highlights:

WHERE: Annenberg Community Beach House, 415 Pacific Coast Hwy, Santa Monica, CA 90402.

VISUALS: Participants will run through a festive arch on Santa Monica State Beach before jumping into the Pacific Ocean followed by a warm swim in the Beach House pool. Pat the polar bear will also be available for photo opportunities.
