SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The City of Santa Monica’s Reed Park Pop-Up Grant Program is a new opportunity for Santa Monica residents, businesses, and community organizations to engage and connect with one another through temporary enhancements, events, or programming in Reed Park.

The City of Santa Monica has made improvements to the park, launched new programming like Meet Me at Reed, and offered incentives for park activation, including waiving certain charges for fitness trainers. Now the City is offering $500 grants to people and organizations who can create community and activate Reed.

Parks enhance the City’s neighborhoods, serve as focal points, foster civic pride and identity, and offer access to sports, recreation, entertainment, learning, and social connection. Grants of up to $500 are now available for positive and innovative uses of Reed Park which will contribute to a robust year-round activity calendar. Grants will be awarded twice a year. Applications for 2020 Grants, Cycle 1 open October 1 and are due November 1, 2019 for pop-ups between January and June 2020. Cycle 2 will launch next spring for events to take place between July and December 2020.
