Chemical Spray Arrest

Santa Monica, CA – On October 19, 2019, Officers responded to the Santa Monica Pier regarding an assault that occurred. The assault occurred when two organized groups (Pro-Trump / Anti-Trump) confronted each other. At some point during the confrontation, two subjects began to spray the crowd with pepper/bear spray in indiscriminant directions. One subject was detained and arrested at the scene (David Dempsey). During the investigation, the second subject was identified as KRONGCHANA, JOSEPH DOB: 12/26/1975; a San Gabriel resident.
On December 6, 2019, Santa Monica Detectives served a search warrant at Krongchana’s home. During the search, evidence was recovered, which included chemical spray canisters similar to what was used on the Pier. Krongchana was arrested and transported to the SMPD Jail.
Joseph Krongchana was arrested for 22810(G)(1) PC – Use or Possession of Tear Gas.
