It’s Time to Take the Plunge at Santa Monica’s Third Annual Polar Bear Swim

December 12, 2019 2:25 PM

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — On Saturday, December 28, dip your toes, take a plunge or go for a 300-yard or 500-yard buoy swim in the great Pacific, then warm up in the heated Beach House pool. Celebrate this annual tradition with friends and family while enjoying the pool and poolside activities including snacks, warm beverages, and photos with our mascot, Pat the Polar Bear.

The pool opens at 9 a.m., then head to the beach where you can run through the snowflake arch on the way to your plunge. At 9:20 a.m., it’s the Kids Polar Plunge followed by the Adults Polar Plunge at 9:30 a.m. The 300-yard swim will follow at 9:40 a.m. and the 500-yard buoy swim at 9:50 a.m. The pool will be open until 1 p.m.

New this year - all Polar Bears are invited to participate in our Hygiene Kit project with West Coast Care. Bring items such as new socks, toothbrushes and travel-sized toothpaste to support people in our community. No matter how small or large your donation, the impact it has on the life of an individual is remarkable. Those donating will be entered into a drawing for one of five complimentary pool passes.

Admission will be charged for polar bears entering the pool deck to visit, soak or swim in the heated pool, take a hot shower and munch on the tasty snacks provided. Pool Admission: $10/Adults, $5/Senior Adults 60+, $4/Youth 1-17. Register here for the third annual Polar Bear Swim.
