Santa Monica Public Library Celebrates Día With Children’s Authors and Music

Santa Monica Public Library presents a Día celebration during April 2021. Día is a nationally-recognized initiative that links children and families to diverse books, and emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Santa Monica Public Library invites all families to celebrate Día by joining us for three special events: 

Día Celebration with Author Glenda Armand  

Tuesday, April 6 / 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. / Ages 5 & up / Access via the link below   
Author Glenda Armand shares her new picture book biography, Song in a Rainstorm: The Story of Musical Prodigy Thomas “Blind Tom” Wiggins, the story of one of the greatest musicians of his time who was born into a life of slavery. Attendees get a free book. Access the event at bit.ly/smpldiaglenda.   

Día Celebration with Author Mina Javaherbin 

Tuesday, April 13 / 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. / Ages 3 & up / Access via the link below   
Author Mina Javaherbin shares her book My Grandma and Me, a true tale of a young girl in Iran and her grandmother, that celebrates family traditions and neighborhood friendships. Attendees get a free book. Access the event at bit.ly/smpldiamina.  

Día Finale Celebration with BailaBaila! 

Friday, April 23 / 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. / For Families / Access via the link below   
BailaBaila brings culture, fun, education, and movement into your home with a musical performance that gets the whole family dancing while learning Spanish together. Access the event at bit.ly/smpldiabaila.    

All of the Día programs are free and you do not need a Santa Monica Public Library card to participate in the programs.
