Juvenile Suspect in Custody Following Pier Ramp Shooting

Santa Monica, CA — On August 23, 2026, at approximately 7:49 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting near the Pier ramp.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a male victim in his 20s was approached by a group of individuals and an altercation occurred during an attempted robbery. During the altercation, one individual fired a weapon, striking the victim in the leg.
Officers provided emergency medical aid, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
A juvenile suspect was taken into custody later that evening in connection with the incident. Investigators are working to determine the juvenile’s role in the attempted robbery and shooting. Detectives continue working to identify and locate the remaining individuals involved.
