How to Close Your Business
When a business is sold, closed, or has moved out of the City of Santa Monica, the Business License Office must be notified. Additional business license tax, assessments, fees, and penalties may apply depending on the expiration date of the current license and the date the business ceased operations in Santa Monica.
Please Note: Your closure date will be your last date of operations within the City of Santa Monica. This is not necessarily the same date you are submitting your closure notice. You will need the last date of operations in Santa Monica in order to complete your closure request.
