Tennis court are available by advance fee reservations only at Reed Park and Ocean View Park(Drop-in and and non-reservation in available only on the same day). Also, tennis courts are available for free, drop-in, non-reservation at city parks (see "Which city parks are available for free, drop-in, non-reservation" below in the FAQ), public school sites (see "Which public school sites are available for free, drop-in, non-reservation" below in the FAQ). Pickleball - Memorial Park, located at 1401 Olympic Blvd. has pickleball lines painted on the 4 tennis courts. Each tennis court can accommodate 4 pickleball courts. When not used for City programs or approved permits, the courts are first come, first serve for either tennis or pickleball. There are also dedicated times for pickleball at John Adams Middle School on Saturdays and Sundays from 8AM-12PM. At John Adams there are a total of 8 pickleball courts and nets are provided.

Which city parks are available for free, drop-in, non-reservation?

Clover Park(2 lighted courts located at 25th and Ocean Park Blvd) Daily 8:00am to 10:00pm
Douglas Park (2 lighted courts located at 25th and Wilshire Blvd) Daily 8:00am to 10:00pm
Los Amigos Park (1 lighted court located at 6th and Hollister Ave. (Court is available only when school classes or sponsored programs are not in session which is usually on weekdays after 6pm or all day on weekends.) 8:00am to 10:00pm weekends only (Court is also available when school classes or sponsored programs are not in session, usually on weekdays after 6:00pm
Marine Park (3 lighted courts located at 17th and Marine St.) Daily 8:00am to 10:00pm
Memorial Park (4 lighted courts located at 14th and Olympic Blvd.) Between Monday June 21, 2021 and Friday, August 13, 2021, the Memorial Park tennis/pickleball courts will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Which public school sites are available for free, drop-in, non-reservation?

Santa Monica High School – 7 non-lighted courts available during the following hours unless closed for maintenance, school use, school holidays, City programs, or permitted use. A permit is required for use of Santa Monica High School courts.
* Monday-Friday during the school year 6pm–dusk.
* Monday-Friday during school breaks 8am–dusk.
* Saturdays year round 7am-dusk.
* Sundays year round 8am-dusk.

What are the tennis etiquette rules?

Ethics of tennis and sportsmanship shall prevail for the safety and enjoyment of all players.
No hard soled or dark soled shoes are allowed on the courts.
No more than six balls are allowed on the court.
Promotional materials of any form are prohibited on courts without prior approval.
Players must abide by the decision of city staff regarding the interpretation of any rules governing the use of the courts.
Tennis instruction of any kind requires an official permit. Violators are subject to prosecution.
Inline, roller skates, skateboards, scooters, soccer balls, etc. are not permitted at any time on the courts.
Dogs are not allowed on the courts except for service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability.

What are the rules when other players are waiting?

You may play one set with no more than a five minute warm-up or you may rally for a total of thirty minutes.
If you are currently playing a set, you must complete the set then forfeit the court.
One person cannot hold the tennis court when two or more people are waiting.

Can courts be reserved for Group or Individual Lessons/Programs/Events?

Tennis instruction of any kind requires an official permit. Violators are subject to prosecution. Contact the Reed Tennis office.
