DA104: Using Maps to Visualize Data

This course is part of the City of Santa Monica's Data Academy, a program of the Santa Monica Institute.

Mapping is one of the most impactful methods to bring your data to life. This course teaches you how to create beautiful maps from your data with simple tools.

In this session, you will learn how to create maps from data stored within spreadsheets. You will then learn how to easily embed your map(s) into your spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentations to better explain your data.

This course also teaches participants how to create interactive web maps using ArcGIS Online, a web-based mapping tool that is available to all city employees. We will learn how to use ArcGIS Online to visualize our data and share our work with colleagues for collaboration and data sharing.

This course assumes basic familiarity with data concepts and Excel. DA101A, DA101B, DA102, and DA103 are recommended pre-requisites for this course, but are not required.
