The City of Santa Monica Housing Division’s mission is to create new housing opportunities, preserve existing affordable housing, and help residents keep their housing in Santa Monica.
PROGRAMS:
SECTION 8 (HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER) PROGRAM: The Santa Monica Housing Division’s Section 8 waitlist is open. Learn more and apply.
BELOW MARKET HOUSING (BMH) PROGRAM: The BMH program offers apartments for less-than-market-rate rent to households that earn very low to moderate income.
PRESERVING OUR DIVERSITY (POD) PROGRAM: The POD program offers monthly cash assistance for seniors living in rent-controlled apartments in Santa Monica who earn extremely low income.
NEW LEASING REQUIREMENTS: Beginning October 9, 2020, one-year leases are required in Santa Monica along with other new rules. Visit City Planning to learn more.
