Citizenship Classes

The Library hosts a series of citizenship classes taught by Adult Education Center instructors. Classes are free and students must be 18 years or older to attend. Community and SMMUSD parents have priority enrollment. Classes run from August through June each year. 

Courses are designed to cover topics in U.S. history and government. Students receive assistance filling out the citizenship application. Practice is provided in written dictation and in answering questions for the oral interview. Student must be eligible to become a U.S. citizen and read, write, and speak English at an intermediate level.
