Michigan Avenue and 20th Street Bike Path Connectivity Project

I-10 East 20th St off-ramp CLOSURE, Wednesday, 4/17 at 9PM to Thursday, 4/18 6AM for traffic striping. Please detour and utilize the Centinela Ave exit.

On Wednesday, 4/17 and Thursday, 4/18, from 9AM-5PM, on 20th St between Olympic and Delaware, new striping will be installed. Expect traffic delays. Please follow detour signs. 

About: 

The Michigan Ave. Greenway & 20th St. Project would complete a segment of the Michigan Ave. Neighborhood Greenway (MANGo) plan, which aims to create an enhanced east-west cyclist connection from the ocean to Bergamot Station. The project consists of the construction of a two-way protected bike connection and pedestrian path over the 20th St. freeway overcrossing to link Michigan Ave. where it transitions form the south to the north side of the freeway. The Project would substantially reduce the walk and bike distance between the Pico Neighborhood and the Bergamot Area. 

Construction Schedule:

Construction of the project started on June 26th, 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2024.  Crews are currently focused on segment between 20th St. and 21st Street on the north side of the overpass. They are temporarily utilizing the segment of Michigan Ave. between 19th St. and 20th St. as a staging area, until the crews have finalized the northern portion of the project.
