Hit and Run Fatality

March 23, 2022 4:56 PM

The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a driver involved in a Hit and Run Fatality.

On November 13, 2021, at approximately 8:04 PM, SMPD Officers responded to 10th Street and Pico Blvd for a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Upon their arrival, they found the pedestrian, a 58-year-old male, suffering from massive trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

Investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by a white Ford Mustang. While lying in the roadway, the victim was struck by a second vehicle, the owner of which remained on scene.

The Major Accident Response Team (MART) was activated and started their investigation, which has spanned several months. The suspect vehicle has been identified as a white Ford Mustang; analysis of the body style suggests the vehicle’s model year is around 2015. The vehicle’s path of travel was tracked on security cameras in the area. It is believed the suspect vehicle sustained a broken front windshield and damage to the front driver’s side. Investigators also believe the driver of the vehicle might have lived in or at least frequented the area of the collision and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver.

Anyone with any information pertaining to this incident is strongly encouraged to contact Investigator Evan Raleigh at 310-458-8954 or evan.raleigh@santamonica.gov, or the Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8426.
