Santa Monica College (SMC) is facing an unprecedented fiscal and enrollment crisis. The result is employee lay-offs and the continued erosion of educational access for our community. Oscar’s proven leadership is needed to get SMC back on track!
Oscar has a MA DEGREE in public administration and served 18 years on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education, strengthening our public schools.
A father of two students enrolled at SMC, Oscar has a personal commitment to protecting the promise of affordable public education. He is a FOUNDER of a youth center and works daily to expand educational and economic opportunity for ALL!
PROVEN LEADER Oscar will:
-Improve retention and graduation rates by supporting Student Support Services and our Emeritus Academy.
-Create student and workforce housing while supporting policies that keep rents affordable.
-Create a Resident Workforce Retraining Initiative that will prepare residents for the new economy.
Santa Monica and Malibu needs an INDEPENDENT VOICE on the SMC Board of Trustees that has a proven record of holding our government accountable. Elect OSCAR DE LA TORRE, a leader we can trust to move Santa Monica College forward!
