Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary loan is the process by which a library requests material from, or supplies material to, another library. If you’re interested in a title we don’t have, we can request it from another library in the US on your behalf and, if fulfilled, send it to an SMPL location for pick-up.
Notes about ILL
- Before requesting, please note that this process may take as long as four weeks, and possibly longer to procure more obscure titles.
- You will be responsible for a $5.00 fee for the request, regardless of whether it is filled or not. Depending on the title, other institutions may charge additional fees for the material, though we will notify you if that is the case.
- You may request up to three items at a time.
- You can pay ILL request fees in person at one of our full-service locations or online.
